The communication between the client and the custom Autodiscover service works fine. We tested this in Outlook 2010, Apple Mail and on an iPhone. It takes the clients' POST request, properly extracts theĮMailAddress element, retrieves the usernames for the e-mail addresses and returns proper repsonses to the clients.
Therefore we implemented a custom static Autodiscover service (POX) that closely follows theĪutodiscover Reference (POX). However, our usernames are different from the users' e-mail addresses. We would like to make use of the Outlook Autodiscover feature in order to make client setup easier. Our e-mail clients include not only Outlook but also Thunderbird, Apple Mail, KMail, various other desktop clients, and mobile devices. We are currently deploying a Microsoft Exchange 2010 service.
